Founded in 2019, we are committed to fostering dialogue and debate on today’s most pressing economic, political, and social issues.

Through fostering connections at the highest levels of business, industry and government, and building bridges between communities and across disciplines, we aim to cultivate the next generation of Malaysia’s leaders. Our distinguished membership includes statesmen, corporate captains, leading academic and thought leaders.

The ECKL is committed to a free market and inclusive economy with policy responses targeted towards promoting greater opportunities for all and reducing disparities in income, and align sustainable development goals.

The ECKL dedicates itself to a nation founded on the Federal Constitution, based on its multi-racial society, with no misuse of race and religion for political purposes.

Our Objectives

• to promote dialogue and discussion on economic issues and matters of the country as well as social and development issues. It will seek to offer suggestions and policy proposals to the relevant authorities and serve as a bridge between the public, private and academic sectors;

• to bring together businessmen and academic/ think tank leaders to deliberate on national economic issues, key trends and geopolitical matters;

• to commit to a free market and inclusive economy with policy responses targeted towards promoting greater opportunities for all and reducing disparities in income, align with sustainable development goals and overall economic development

• to commit to the country’s successful embrace of the digital economy to achieve global competitiveness in a world driven by technological change and advancement;
• to dedicate itself to a nation founded on the Federal Constitution, based on its multi-racial society, in keeping with societal norms, all faiths and with no political objectives or purposes;

• to relate and interact with other organizations and bodies in Malaysia and abroad which have similar objectives and to learn and collaborate with one another;

• to promote public policy debate on economic issues and matters and to encourage and promote meaningful connection between public, private and academic sectors;

• to issue publications and to provide information, guidance and opinions on economic, business and trade matters.

The Economic Club of Kuala Lumpur is widely recognized as the premier forum for distinguished global leaders to share their insights about major issues of the day with top-tier business leaders.
